Nokia is the largest manufacturer of mobile telephones, having the global device of market share of 38 % in 2009. Nokia produces mobile telephones for every segment of the market, having in mind satisfying its client's needs. This company provides its mobile telephones with services that enable people to experience music, maps, games and instant messaging.
The model 8800 was launched in 2005 as a luxury mobile phone based on Nokia Series 40 operating system. Nokia 8800 is covered in a stainless-steel shell, with a scratch resistant screen and a very light weight- only 134 grams. 8800's slide mechanism uses premium ball bearings realized by the makers of bearings used in high performance cars.
8800 uses a TFT 256K colors display, with a 208×208 pixels resolution-which in 2005 was one of the best mobile telephone's screens. Furthermore, the 8800 uses a 3D image engine for enhanced graphics- a very new technology at that time. This model can be connected to your computer via an USB pop port, and with another mobile phone through the Bluetooth technology. Internet can be accessed with Nokia 8800 through WAP, EDGE or GPRS- depending on the network the client uses.

Nokia 8800 can be used for sending SMS, MMS, MMS, E-mails and for Instant Messaging. Also, speaking of media it has an MP3/AAC player and FM radio. Pictures can be taken with its SVGA camera which has a 800x600 pixels resolution and the possibility to record your moments through its video function. The 8800 comes with two batteries and a manufacturer specified talk time of up to 1.5-3 hours or up to 8 days standby time per battery. However, many users complain that that the battery doesn't last enough for their needs and that they have to buy new batteries every once in a while or charge their phone several times a day.
After the launching of the 8800, Nokia developed two other improved editions of the last one - 8800 Sirocco and 8800 Arte. The 8800 Sirocco was released in 2006 with a new design, a 2 megapixel camera and slightly updated keypad layout. The phone's chassis was redesigned to include the upgraded 700mAH BP-6X battery. In 2007 Nokia released the 24ct gold plated version of the 8800 Sirocco which was and still is the most expensive mobile phone in the Nokia catalog ($2049).

Nokia 8800 Arte was released in 2007, being the significantly updated version of 8800. 8800 Arte comes in four different versions: the original arte, the sapphire arte, the carbon arte and the gold arte. The original Arte has a stainless steel black chassis, it features a 2.0 inch scratch resistant OLED screen, a 3.15 MP camera with autofocus and, a very important feature-the 1GB internal memory. The Sapphire Arte chassis is also made of stainless steel but it also has leather and a sapphire replacing the navigation button. Design is the only thing that differentiates the Sapphire Arte from the Original Arte. Carbon Arte also has a different design - its chassis is made of stainless steel, carbon fiber and titanium. As features, it has a 2.0 inch scratch resistant OLED screen, 4GB internal memory and a 3.15 MP camera with autofocus. The last Arte is the gold arte which has a an 18K Gold Plated body and uses the same technical features as Carbon Arte.

The 8800 is rather an exclusive mobile phone-Nokia used the best materials for producing its shell- carbon, titanium, leather, gold and the best artists to design it. Also, the technology included was the best at that time. Owning this mobile phone gives you a particular importance, social status, and sometimes, attracts people' s envy.
