Nokia E71x officially announced by AT&T

There were so many rumors about the Nokia E71x up until today that it seems that the handset has been here since forever. The phone was seen for the first time at the end of last year, sometime in November, but this is the day we’ve all been waiting for. AT&T decided to make it official, even if the Nokia E71x is still unavailable to be purchased.

Part of the S60 Eseries, you can already find the smartphone on the official website of the North American carrier, but, for the moment, it is labeled with the following words: “coming soon”. This means that, most probably, the E71x will become available in the next couple of weeks.

If looking very good at this new handset, you’ll realize that there’s not much of a difference, when compared to the E71 that is currently sold by Nokia USA, besides the black case.

The phone was announced along with several other handsets, like the Samsung Propel Pro, Samsung Impression and Samsung Magnet, LG Xenon and LG Neon. This is “a fresh new lineup of smartphones and quick messaging phones that make it easier for customers to message with friends and family and manage their business and personal lives on the go”.

The Nokia E71x is said to be the thinnest smartphone on the market and runs on the S60 Symbian operating system. Being 10 millimeters thin, it comes with Wi-Fi, lots of applications based on the Symbian and popular AT&T services (including the AT&T Navigator).

If you’re willing to sign a 2-year contract agreement with the North American carrier, then you’ll get a very good price for the phone: $99, after a mail-in rebate, compared to the $359, the no-contract price.
