Nokia N76
Posted by: CameraPhonesPlaza in Nokia
Along with the launch of N76, Nokia has entered the "slim" mobile market and enters in direct competition with the market symbol - Motorola RAZR. At a first look, the two phones have many similarities in design. Nokia N76 is a smartphone that belongs to the N series and Nokia made no compromise when they made it very thin.
With a thickness of 14 mm (0.5 ") Nokia N76 has some impressive specifications if we compare it to other phones in its class.
Nokia N76 comes with a package that contains the following: a charger, a USB data cable, some manuals and a software CD.
On the bottom side, Nokia N76 is a copy of 6290, but while 6290 measures 94x50x20.8 mm, the N76 boasts with 106.5x52x13.7 mm; as you can see N76 is taller than 6290 and because of this it is very thin. Nokia N76 is a clamshell phone with a shape similar to Motorola RAZR. The first thing, which reminds us of the RAZR, is the keys that are almost identical to the RAZR. Even the blue light on the keys looks almost identical to the one found on Motorola RAZR.

The keys on N76 are harder to use than those we find on Motorola. The existing keys on Motorola RAZR have numbers in relief, an advantage we did not find on Nokia N76, and this makes it hard to find the desired key without looking at the keyboard. Despite of this small disadvantage, the keyboard has a good quality and provides feedback when it is pressed. Nokia N76 is available in two colors: black and red.
The phone is easy to hold in hand when the flap is closed, and manages to combine the functionality with a pleasant design. On the front side, you will immediately notice the fingerprints so you must be prepared to wipe this surface often. Because of it, the external display looks a little wiped.
Under the external display, we can see three buttons with which you can easily control the audio player. The buttons are lit in black or red depending on the color combination chosen for the phone. Now let us say a few words about the buttons. Let us start with the right button, that once pressed, activates the radio, and then the other two buttons help you change stations. In standby mode, the middle button is for activating the player. When pressing the left button you can choose the playlist, depending on the artist, genre or most played songs.

The external display has a dimension of 22x28 mm (1.36 ") and a resolution of 128x160 pixels. It has TFT technology and displays up to 262 000 colors. The screen has no problems in direct sunlight and can display up to six lines of text. Along with N76, Nokia finally offers the possibility to read the text messages (SMS) on the external display. By pressing the left softkey you can read all the messages in the phone. During a call, on the external display you will see a black and white image of the phone. There are a lot of settings that can change the screen's brightness or other settings that let you choose your favorite wallpaper or screensaver etc. Once your device is on standby mode, the external screen enters power saving mode, or if desire you can set your phone to show a digital clock all the time.
On the left side, we find the microSD card slot and next to it, the charger plug. On the right side, we have the dedicated camera button, another button for quick access to the image gallery and the volume control keys, which can also be used for zooming while taking pictures. On the top side, we find the miniUSB slot covered with a rubber cap, the 3.5 mm audio jack and the power button. Unfortunately, the miniUSB port is unable to charge the phone, so Nokia N76 cannot be charged from the laptop. The speaker can be found on the bottom side.

The new N76 has a QVGA internal display with a resolution of 240x320 pixels that can display 16 million of colors. Above the display, there is a camera for video calls in 3G networks. Nokia N76 is equipped with Bluetooth 2.0, but it does not have A2DP profile support. The average speed on Bluetooth connection is around 100 Kb / s.
Nokia N76's battery has a capacity of 700 mAh and the producer pretends that it will work for about 200 hours in standby mode and up to 2 hours and 45 minutes of talk time. Producer ensures us that N76 can resist up to 8 hours if you listen to music, but in reality, N76 withstands for about 4-5 hours, with the player running non-stop.
Nokia N76 is based on the S60 3rd edition operating system. The phone has an internal memory of 26 MB and supports microSD cards up to 2GB.

Nokia N76 is equipped with a 2 Megapixel CMOS camera that offers a pretty good quality if the light is just enough, otherwise the picture is blurry. There is a LED with the role of a flash, but it is too weak and it does not help too much when pictures are made very close. The camera has the following resolutions available: 1600x1200, 1152x764, 640x480 and 320x240 pixels. The quality of the pictures varies from "High" to "Normal" and "Basic." There are four ways to take a photo: Single shot, multi-shot, the night mode and the self-timer (you can choose a time between 10-30 seconds and the phone will make one picture).
The video quality is average and the phone records with the following resolutions: 320x240, 176x144 and 128x96 pixels at 15 fps, and the final clip will be saved in 3GP format. There is no limit for video recording the only limit being the memory available.

Nokia N76 is a smartphone with a successful design and it is placed as a fashion type phone. Â As I said, the phone has a successful design, Nokia making a perfect combination between the functionality and a very good design.
