Awarded as the Best Mobile Imaging Device in Europe by the the Technical Image Press Association, Nokia N82 continues to be one of the top choices when it comes to needing a high-resolution camera phone for clear pictures captured on the go, since November last year, when it was released on the market.
Nokia wanted to deliver a high-end model having as main functionalities the built-in advanced digital camera, GPS navigation module, and mobile multimedia computing.
The camera is a 5MP, with Carl Zeiss optics, capable to produce photos at up to 2592 x 1944 pixels. It has autofocus, 20x zoom, white balance, video recording capability at 30 fps, video stabiliser, Xenon flash, and there is also a secondary camera with Common Intermediate Format resolution type, meaning 352 x 288 pixels, designed for video calling.
Other main camera specifications include: CMOS sensor, 5.6 mm focal length, 10 cm to infinity focus range, and 10 to 50 cm macro distance.
You can use scene modes like automatic, user, close-up, portrait, landscape, sports, night, and night portrait, or change the color tone to normal, sepia, black & white, negative, or vivid, just like with a standard digital camera.

The Nokia N82 cell phone allows you to upload pictures on the web immediately after capturing, so you can share them on a blog via the Picture Blogging functionality, or send them instantly through email or current chat window, but don’t forget to activate the A-GPS feature, which will assign metatags to all you photos, with location details and date, so at a later time you’d be able to check and see where specific pictures were taken.
The basic GPS tools guide you in finding the most appropriate routes to reach your destination, or best locations where to spend your time.
Optional features are available for purchase, including voice guided navigation, city guides, and access to 15 million points of interest like bars and popular restaurants.
Next, the cell phone has WCDMA2100 support, GSM850/1800/1900 MHz support, 100MB dynamic memory shared with the applications, hot swappable microSD memory card slot, S60 software on Symbian OS, automatic screen rotation based on accelerometer technology, voice dialing, push to talk, Nokia XpressPrint for direct picture printing via Bluetooth wireless connectivity with compatible printers, stereo FM radio, and USB Mass Storage.
The Nokia N82 cell phone sports a large 2.4-inch TFT LCD display with 240 x 320 pixel resolution and 16.7 million colors, on which you can browse full web pages in landscape mode, or edit videos, manage documents, and many other things.
Additional features supported are: TV out, WLAN, USB 2.0, and Universal Plug and Play capability, so you won’t need to install special software when connecting the phone to your PC.

It measures 112 x 50.2 x 17.3 mm at 114 grams, integrating a 1050mAH Nokia battery for up to 260 minutes talk time, 225 hours standby, 290 pictures with flash, 110 minutes video capture, 120 minutes video call, 10 hours music playback, and 200 minutes of video playback.
