Nokia N96 starts shipping in the United States

There are a couple of days since Nokia announced that the much anticipated Nokia N96 is now available in the United States. The handset is the newest Nokia smartphone in the Nseries range of products, being the official successor of the N95. Nokia N96 was publicly announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona 2008, and started selling in September, Europe, Middle East and Asia-Pacific being the first locations to provide the handset for consumers.

Because the entertainment features hunters out there are very numerous, the Nokia N96 comes prepared to knock them all over with its rich features list. Therefore, you can find on board a 5 megapixel camera that comes with Carl Zeiss optics, turn-by-turn navigation, a stunning 2.8 display, N-Gage for a better gaming experience, superior sound and music, integrated 3D stereo speakers, an internal memory of 16GB and, of course, a microSD card support of no more than 24GB.

Alessandro Lamanna, Vice President of Sales, Open Markets, Nokia Americas, says that “the Nokia N96 offers the best of mobile entertainment, blending phone and multimedia options seamlessly with the unique Nokia Nseries dual slider – a great way to discover and share your favorite moments. Watch video, take high quality photos and geotag them to specific locations or directly upload them online via the fast Internet connection – the Nokia N96 takes mobile entertainment and communication to the next level”.

You can do this also online with WLAN and HSDPA support. In addition, the Nokia N96 comes with support for the most frequently used video formats, such as MPEG-4, WMV (Windows Media Video) and Flash Video.

If you’re into taking clear and high quality video clips, you can do this at 30 frames per second, while the 5-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss Optics and dual LED flash will help you take sharp photos. You can also tag the location of your images, as the N96 comes with the integrated geo-tagging.this way, you’re a click away from sharing them on Share on Ovi, a Nokia service that you all know very well.

The device is compatible with high-speed 3G HSDPA networks in the US (850 and 1900 MHz) and is expected to cost an estimated 895 USD.

The company announced that N96 will now be available through open channels in the United States, including the Nokia Flagship stored in New York and Chicago, on nokiausa.com and a number or independent retailers and e-tailers.
