Nokia N97 release date, almost here

As you probably know by now, the Nokia N97 is a highly anticipated device, as it was referred to as the “flagship mobile computer” by the Finnish company. I agree, people have many reasons to be anxious about it, and it seems that the waiting is harder and harder, as the time passes by.

The Nokia N97 release date was set for this month (June 2009, to be more precise), so we’re all holding our breath to see it in the shop windows. It’s not a surprise for anyone that the N97 is almost here, but what is to amaze all of you is that it will become available in more than 75 countries from all over the world.

There’s a press release coming from the Finnish company that confirms the news, but, unfortunately, we don’t have (not yet) the list of the 75 countries that will be blessed with the presence of the smartphone.

“The Nokia N97 is an important step towards our vision of delivering a highly personalized Internet experience”, said Jonas Geust, the Vice President and Head of Nokia Nseries. He further added that: “Fuelled by a multitude of music, maps, games, media and applications via Ovi, the Nokia N97 transforms the Internet into an experience that’s completely tailored to the tastes and interests of its owner.”

As for the features, the phone will be equipped with a 3.5 inch touch sensitive display, a QWERTY keyboard, a fully customizable home screen, easy and instant access to the numerous Ovi services, widgets for social networking sites such as Facebook and Hi5, news services (Associated Press, Bloomberg, Reuters), shopping information or weather information. Not to mention the fact that it will be the first handset to be equipped with the Ovi Store, pre-installed.

As far as the price is concerned, you can pre-order the N97 for $699 and you can choose from two color versions: black and white.
