Nokia N97 Reviews

One of the most awaited terminals of the moment was the Nokia N97. This device was announced by the Finnish company in November 2008 and was officially launched in June 2009. Let us look at one of the many Nokia N97 reviews.
Nokia N97 measures 117.2 x 55.3 x 15.9 mm and weighs 150 grams. The terminal is a slider, which closed, looks like a simple candybar. The front side is occupied by the screen and by the D-pad with three keys: one physical button and two tactile keys. Nokia N97's screen measures 3.5 inches, displays 16 million colors and has a generous resolution of 360 x 640 pixels.
Above the display, we find the Nokia logo, the phone speaker, the secondary camera for video calls and the light sensor. Under the screen, we have the D-pad, which has three keys, a physical one, which opens the phone's main menu and two touch keys used for answering a call and rejecting a call.

The left side is loaded with a slot, in which the user can attach an USB cable and a charger. Here, we also find the button that unlocks the screen and two speakers positioned on the extremities. The right side is occupied by the volume control buttons and the dedicated camera key. The top part of the terminal presents the 3.5 mm jack and the key that starts or shuts down the phone. The bottom side presents only the microphone.
The back side of the phone is covered by the plastic cover, which hides the battery. Above it, we find the 5 MP camera with LED flash. Under the cap, we find the Lithium-Ion standard battery with a capacity of 1300 mAh, which in stand-by mode withstands up to 400 hours and up to nine hours of talk time. The parameters given by Nokia are as true as they can be. The phone's battery has a long life.
Nokia N97 comes with a stylus in the package. Unfortunately, the phone does not have a dedicated stylus place in the phone's body. The stylus must be attached to the phone using a cord. If the user chooses to use the stylus, he will have an unpleasant surprise to hit the screen and the phone constantly with this accessory. However, Nokia has provided N97 with a scratch-resistant screen.

Nokia N97's processor is an ARM 11 and has 434 MHz. The model runs the Symbian OS 9.4, Series 60. In standby mode, the screen displays the connectivity and the mobile operator on the top side. Scattered in different quadrants on the screen there are a series of shortcuts to various applications, social networking sites or e-mail. The user can customize his screen and he can also disable the quadrants from the Options menu, which is in the lower left corner of the screen. At the bottom of the screen, we find a band with three submenus: Options, the virtual keyboard sign and Contacts. Nokia N97's main menu is displayed in a matrix format, with icons on four rows and three columns. Only the physical key located in the D-pad can access it.
At the messaging chapter, one of Nokia N97's strengths is the SMS, MMS, e-mail and instant messaging support and it comes with push email service. SMS and MMS messages are stored in a separate inbox from the e-mails, which in turn have their own inbox. The e-mail setting is easy and the standard protocols supported are POP3 and IMAP4. Moreover, each electronic letter supports attachments.

When writing an e-mail or a short message (SMS), the user will use the physical full QWERTY keyboard. The phone keys are square, convex and well defined. Typing is easy, and the phone offers a guide button, which usually is found in the D-pad of a regular phone.
As Nokia N97 is a phone optimized for messaging, it comes with Office suite in equipment. Here we find the calendar, the possibility of searching for various documents, calculator, QuickOffice suite, File Manager, Clock, Converter, Active Notes and the dictionary. The dictionary from the equipment is installed only in English. If you want something else, you will need to install one.
Although Nokia N97 is not a dedicated music phone, the music player does its job very well. The audio formats supported by the phone are MP3, WMA, WAV and AAC +. In the video category, the phone plays the following formats: WMV, RealVideo and MP4. The terminal comes with Real Player and Flash Player on board. Nokia N97 is also a streaming audio device with radio transmitter functions.

Nokia N97 has a very generous internal memory of 32 GB and, in addition, the model still supports upgrading through a maximum 16 GB memory card. The sound played through the speakers does not disappoint at all. However, it is indicated to keep the phone to a medium volume. The same can be said about the headphones from the package, though their ears are uncomfortable for small ears, the headphones play a very good sound even at a high level.
If you get tired of the music you have on the phone you can always watch a movie, because the terminal has a screen big enough for watching movies. To use the radio, you have to attach the headphones because they play the role of the antenna. The equipped headphones can be replaced, because the phone has a 3.5 mm jack.
Nokia N97 comes with a 5 MP camera with autofocus and LED flash. The phone will automatically choose the flash in the moment when the camera is not used in the daylight; the flash will be very helpful in a poorly lit corner of the room. Of course, there is the possibility to disable it. The images taken by the phone have a maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. The camera has Carl Zeiss lens and, besides the autofocus function, Nokia N97's sensor is associated with the Geotagging function. The camera can make videos in a VGA resolution with 15 frames per second (fps). The images taken with N97 are quite good. However, as with other Nokia phones, the images captured in closed spaces will have a blue effect. The best pictures will be done in natural light. The model has many modes to take a picture. Among them, we find the Macro (close-up). The camera's position is slightly annoying. Sometimes fingers cover it. The good news is that the lens has a sliding cover that protects them from fingerprints and dirt.

The most modest connectivity from N97's endowment is the GPRS class 32, that offers speeds of 100 kbps, which is followed by EDGE class 32 (296 kbps), 3G with HSDPA (3.6 Mbps) and WiFi 802.11 b / g with UPnP technology. The screen is big enough for viewing the web pages clearly. The Internet browsing is made using the WAP 2.0 browser that supports XHTML and HTML. Like other Nokia terminals, this model comes with Opera Mini pre-installed, but also with direct access to social networking sites like Facebook or MySpace. Besides the Opera Mini browser, Nokia N97 has WAP 2.0 with HTML support. Also in the connectivity chapter, we find the Bluetooth version 2.0 with A2DP support. The model does not lack the USB port. The terminal has Nokia Maps pre-installed, GPS receiver, a digital compass and aGPS functions. The screen is large and the map viewing is easy.
One of the smartest phones currently available, Nokia N97 could please both the business segment, and the youth. The easy access to some sites, to e-mail, but also the system that lets users to quickly share content, will make Nokia N97 one of the most requested phones of the year. I hope you really enjoyed reading this more than any other Nokia N97 reviews.
