Nokia Phone Camera

The cell phone brand known for the best camera phones is Sony Ericsson, because even the 1.3MP models can capture sharp pictures with vivid colors as well as record high-quality videos. That’s why, if I want to talk about the Nokia phone camera models, I should enumerate first the 5MP-capable cell phones. I had the chance to make pictures with a 2MP Nokia but I have to say that I was a bit disappointed, after comparing it to a 1.3MP Sony Ericsson camera phone.
There is a cell phone from Nokia, though, that got all of us attention after it was considered to be the best camera phone. Nokia N82 received this year the Best Mobile Imaging Device in Europe Award from the Technical Image Press Association because it is “a compact multimedia computer that integrates GPS, web, video and music functions around a 5 Megapixel camera with a high-speed, f/2.8 autofocus lens. This Carl Zeiss Tessar focuses from 10cm to infinity and produces sharp prints up to and beyond A4 size. Several scene modes are also available to optimize the Nokia N82 for great images, whether shooting portraits or night shots. Other Nokia N82 features highlighted by the jurors are the Xenon flash and 20X digital zoom."

The N82 is one of the Nokia phone camera models I want to tell you about today and because of this award I will start with it and continue with all the other 5MP phones prepared for the United States and the United Kingdom.
Nokia N82 is available at a price of $564 and sports a 2.4-inch large TFT LCD display with 240 x 320 pixel resolution and 16.7 million colors, on which you can browse through all the pictures taken with the 2592 x 1944-pixel camera or the MPEG-4 videos recorded at 30 frames per second while on the go.

Other features related to the camera functionality include direct connectivity with TVs via the TV out or wireless LAN/ UPnP, a secondary front CIF camera of 352 x 288 pixels, picture slideshow, photos/videos upload on web sites, and Nokia XpressPrint that allows you to print your creations using the PictBridge technology, Bluetooth, WLAN and online printing.
You can record videos of up to 640 x 480-pixel resolution, keeping an eye on the recording indicator, and you shouldn’t get blurry results as there is also a video stabilizer meant to eliminate this problem. Other things you can play with include effects such as white balance, scene and color tone settings, 10x digital zooming, video editing, 20x digital zooming for pictures, photo editing, picture settings like automatic, sunny, cloudy, incandescent and fluorescent, as well as color tones like normal, sepia, black & white, negative and vivid, or scene settings such as automatic, user, close-up, portrait, landscape, sports, night and night portrait.

Camera specifications are: CMOS sensor, F number/Aperture of F2.8, 5.6 mm focal length, 10cm to infinity focus range, and 10-50 cm macro focus distance.

Nokia N82 works on WCDMA2100 (HSDPA), EGSM900 and GSM850/1800/1900 MHz (EGPRS) with automatic switching between bands and modes. It integrates 100MB shared memory, hot swappable microSD card slot, the 1050mAH battery for 4.3 hours of talk time, and runs on the Symbian OS with S60 software. It also lets you see the images wider using the automatic screen rotation, make voice commands, send emails, listen to the music or stereo FM radio, watch videos, use A-GPS or Nokia Maps, browse full pages via HTML, and lots of other cool stuff via a 0.68-mm thick handset.

There are 3 more 5MP Nokia phone camera models available in Europe and 1 prepared for the release later this summer. The latter I am referring at is the Nokia N96.
Nokia N95 and Nokia N95 8GB differ in the following aspects:

Nokia Phone Camera

N95 8GB provides up to 5 hours of talk time in GSM while the battery life shortens in WCDMA reaching 3.5, the N95 providing maximum 3.5 hours. The standby time is of 280 hours at N95 8GB and 215 hours at the N95, while the internal memory of the N95 is of just 160MB, shared between the applications and not upgradeable. N95 8GB features microSD card slot to let you add 2GB more besides the 8GB already provided. The camera built in the N95 does not support autofocus and flash, while N95 8GB has even 20x digital zooming.
Now let’s see what the common features of the two models are!
They both have the same slider-style design with landscape capture and measure 99 x 53 x 21 mm at around 125 grams.
The screen resolution is of 240 x 320 pixels with 16 million color capability, and they both work on WCDMA HSDPA 2100, EGSM850/900/1800/1900 MHz bands. There is also a Speakerphone, the same S60 software version installed, email functionality, chat, video calling, push to talk, 2592 x 1944-pixel resolution for photos, 30 fps video recording at 640 x 480 pixels, Internet browser, music player, RealPlayer media player, FM radio, Bluetooth, Infrared, and WLAN.

It is designed with the latest technologies as a multimedia handheld computer with all kinds of features like Live TV, browser with support for Flash videos, advanced multimedia player, stereo FM radio, Nokia Internet radio access, GPS, A-GPS, Nokia Maps, Nokia Wireless Keyboard compatibility, RSS reader, WLAN, and others, but the most important capability we are discussing today is the built-in camera.
