Nokia to implement Lightning Detection Technology?!

Nokia Lightning Detection

Ok, here's a really weird news. Nokia announced that they are working on a Lightning Detection Technology, which will allow your cellphone to inform you of imminent lightning strikes, by analyzing the signals and calculating the distance to the lightning. So far, so good, interesting. However, my main concern is..who the hell needs such technology? Beats me. I mean, it's a lightning dude, I can see it and I don't care where the next one is going to strike, unless it strikes me.

Of course, I am curious if anyone will show up saying "Oh, it's great, this technology saved my life, because it announced me that I'm going to be struck, so I managed to jump from the lightning". Anyone else thinks Nokia should redirect they resources more efficient than developing such useless technologies? Of course, if anyone disagrees with me, please share, because I can't really think of a reason why this technology could help me.
