Not another “best Bluetooth stereo headset”

I just can’t stand how companies, every time they are ready to launch a new product, rush into making statements about the specific product, referring to it as “the best ever made” or “the best in the market”. Being optimistic about your work can always be a very good thing, I agree, but sometimes it’s better to temper a little bit the enthusiasm.

For example, after releasing the “smallest Bluetooth headset to date” in October 2008 (the BH-804), Nokia is trying to push things a little bit further. The Finnish company is now releasing the BH-905, which is said to be the best Bluetooth stereo headset to ever be made. By Nokia, probably, because I can bet all my money on the fact that some companies wouldn’t be happy to hear such thing.

Anyway, the BH-905 is a mixture between music and phone calls, as it allows the user to listen to his/her favorite music anytime, anywhere, but also to make calls. A very important feature is the active noise cancellation, which means you’ll be able to enjoy a crystal clear sound. The technology developed by Wolfson Microelectronics manages to eliminate the background noise, being for the first time used in this stereo headset.

There are 10 microphones involved: eight of them are designed to take care of the cancelling noise issue, while the other 2 are meant to capture the speech in those areas where the sound is loud. In addition, the headset comes with a multifunction key which is dedicated to call management, controls for music and volume, and a switch that activates the active noise cancellation.

As for the compatibility with other devices, you should know that you can wirelessly connect the headset to any device that has wireless Bluetooth support. Through wires, on the other hand, you can connect the BH-905 to all sorts of music players, PC or any other device you might own with a standard 3.5mm jack, to Nokia-branded device with 3.5mm Nokia AV and 2.5mm Nokia AV, airplane player, or even home stereos that have a 6.3mm jack.

“The overall music experience with this new headset is second to none thanks to the revolutionary noise cancellation technology. The headset is set apart also through the ability to make phone calls, as switching between music and calls has been made easy with integrated call controls”, said Jarno Piironen, the Director of Entertainment Business Area, at Nokia Original Accessories. In addition, he said that: “People living in urban areas are surrounded by noise practically everywhere and silence has almost become a luxury. We believe this headset fulfills the highest standards for providing quality music enjoyment and phone calls and also give the luxury of silence when needing an environment to relax”.

The BH-905, which is expected to be the best Bluetooth stereo headset, will start selling in August 2009, for a price of 285 Euros (the price doesn’t include taxes and subsidies).
