Noel Cases adorn your iPhone for Christmas

I don’t know why people tend to become Christmas spirited when there is more than a month until that perfect day (some might say) when Santa will make his appearance down the chimney, bringing all you have asked for. Everything is beautifully adorned nowadays, from your home, the store placed on the corner of your street, to your grandmother, who shows up wearing one of her infamous sequined reindeer sweaters. I know, this isn’t your favorite picture of them all, but there is nothing you can do. The lady loves Christmas and loves her sweater. Be grateful she has a lousy memory and can’t remember the lyrics of those songs you once had the chance to hear all day long.

Now your iPhone can join the festivities too. These cases from More Thing aim to festively match the reflective metallic skin of Christmas tree ball ornaments. Nevertheless, I think that they are attractive enough even outside of the context of the holiday.

I am sure you’ve already seen the shelves being flooded with a range of iPhone cases, but the Noel iPhone cases from More Thing won’t find it difficult to reach the customers’ hands. These glossy iPhone cases are the perfect outfit for your iPhone. Moreover, your iPhone certainly deserves special decking up in the holiday season. The Noel collection, which gives metallic look of Christmas ornaments to your iPhone, has been specially launched for Christmas. They are perfect with Apple iPhone 3G and they prevent and shield the phone from scratches, damages and dust.

Featuring a high reflection metallic finishing, these cases allow access to all controls and ports without removing the case. In addition, free Mirror Screen Protector and Clear Logo protection film are included. Available in blue and ruby jeweltones as well as gold and shiny aluminum, these form-fitting cases are sure to draw attention the next time you answer your phone.

You must remember the fact that these cases are super smooth, so if you’re looking for an extra grip on your iPhone, this isn’t the case for you. They’re available now from More Thing for $29.99 each.

8 Mobile Device gives you two flip-up touchscreens

Because one touchscreen isn’t enough anymore for mobile phones users, two Korean designers, Kyung-Ryul Lim and Miyeon Kim, came up with a new concept handheld communication device that is equipped with two flip-up touchscreens. They feature video, telephone, dictionary and a horde of other specifications.

The communication device was dubbed “8” because it has an 8 shape frame which helps to move dual touchscreens. The functionality of “8” changes as you move the dual touchscreen and they say this feature will bring out special feelings from users.

Kyung Ryun Lim and Miyeon Kim design moving parts: “The mobile phone has dual touchscreen and 8 shape frame which help to move dual touchscreen. Moveable dual touchscreen is easy to use and has various functions according to its shapes. It can be used as an electronic dictionary by moving touchscreen and can be used to displayphone”.

But, I don’t know, the portable device seems a little bit too long for something that theoretically should fit in your pocket, while the whole idea of having the screen show what you type near the virtual keyboard you’re using kind of sounds like a way to cross the user’s eyes. Moreover, supposing the screens are strong enough not to break off in your pocket and are able to easily lock down into the device, is there a sufficient amount of programs and uses for these moving parts? Not to mention the fact that if this were produced in numbers that made them inexpensive enough to be a “standard” phone, I’m not sure how many of you would choose it over the other “basic” models.

Still, it seems that such devices are more and more in the designers’ minds, as not long ago appeared another similar device, the Pantech Flame phone-frame concept. This handset was created by Jung Woo Baik and is a pretty cool idea accompanied by a neat-looking device. The foldable camera phone can be placed like a flip calendar on your desk or it can be used as your average digital frame. The Pantech Flame is equipped with a 5 megapixel camera placed on the front side of the phone, near the keyboard and it can take really neat photos for you to display on your “frame”.

I’m not sure there is a market for such devices, so all we can do is to just wait and see what happens. Though, I hardly see this eccentric phone going into production. Not very soon, at least.

INQ1 from 3 Mobile is the world’s most advanced social networking phone

Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, StumbleUpon. This is what people’s lives are made of nowadays. They cannot imagine themselves otherwise, somewhere outside these virtual worlds, where almost everything is possible. And the worst part is that these social networking websites took control over almost everyone, making no discrimination, of any kind.

Here’s the thing: if you observe a lot of people – especially younger – sitting in the front of the computer, you’ll see that they’re doing quite the same thing: going on Facebook, sending instant messages, emailing, listening to music, watching YouTube. Many may also be using Skype. That’s why people will love the INQ1 phone, because the devices these applications require are outside the price range of the majority of people and the INQ1, in stark contrast, is well within most people’s reach.

European wireless network provider 3 has launched the world’s most advanced social networking mobile phone, the INQ1, at least that’s what the company says. The device brings Facebook to your mobile by delivering alerts directly on your cellphone. But more than that, the handset automatically synchronizes contacts with Facebook.

When you switch on the phone, there is a line of icons at the bottom of the screen that includes Facebook, Last.fm, Windows Live Messenger, 3’s mobile web portal and Google as well as traditional icons such as contacts. The very first time when one of those applications from this list of widgets, such as Facebook, is launched, all you have to do is to log in once and whenever the phone is switched an icon will appear at the top of the home screen to say that user is online.

You can say goodbye to launching browsers, fiddling with menus, just immediate “presence”, which the user’s friends can see whether they are online. This online status is also available for Skype and MSN Messenger – the phone does not yet support AOL IM or Google Chat.

In addition, you’ll see that accessing Facebook is surprisingly fast and despite the small size of the screen, compared with some other devices, it is clear and easy to read.

But the fact that applications such as Facebook are integrated into the phone, rather than merely running in a browser on the device, helped 3 to go further: creating an inbox which pulls together texts, emails, IM and Skype Chat as well as Facebook pokes, messages and notifications, all in one place. The phone supports 3’s own email service as well Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo. Any IM and Facebook updates will be immediately “pushed” to the phone and bring up an alert.

The integration on online applications is also obvious in the phone’s contacts book, where individual contacts include that person’s status update from Facebook as well as their picture – which pops up when they call – as well as information about whether they are online in Facebook, IM or Skype, making it easy to see who may be instantly contactable and by what means.

The features of the INQ1 include: a 3.2 megapixel camera, a 2.2 inch QVGA (high resolution) 262k colors display, an internal memory of 50 MB, with the possibility of expanding the storage using external memory of up to 4 GB. An accelerometer is also included for automatic user interface rotation.

The INQ1 comes in silver or black with a two-year warranty and costs $179 on 3 prepaid of for only $39 per month, which includes unlimited data use for networking obsessives, along with 75 minutes of calls to all networks.

Verizon prepares to launch Samsung Renown on November 19

Verizon seems to spare no effort in order to direct customers’ attention to their products these days, right before Christmas, when we all are a whole lot more generous than usually. They want to bring a smile to all of our faces, which is why they are launching a number of new handsets just in time for the holiday season.

One of those devices is the Samsung SCH-U810, also known under the name of Samsung Renown, a global clamshell cell phone that works on CDMA and GSM (quad band) frequencies. This tough-looking new Samsung phone for globetrotting Verizon Wireless customers will become available in a few weeks. More precisely, the Renown will launch on November 19th and be sold in Verizon stores by December 1st. The device is equipped with a 2-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, 2.3 inch LCD and microSD card slot.

The Samsung Renown will come in a bronze-colored clamshell outfit that looks quite tough, as you can see in the pictures. There are some messaging and VZW services available on-board, such as VZ Navigator, V Cast Music with Raphsody and V Cast Video, and it should be useful almost anywhere around the world, as it’s also equipped with a quad band GSM radio. This could easily turn into the perfect handset for the jet-setters, don’t you think?

As I’ve already mentioned, those who are interested in purchasing the Samsung Renown, should keep their eyes wide open, because it’s rumored to launch on December 1st, and prepare to pay $179.99 from signing up for a two-year contract.
