Motorola i365IS, a safe device for nasty environments

Do you know what an intrinsically-safe device is? And if I ask you is not because I underestimate you, but because I, for one, don’t have a clue.

Searching on Wikipedia, I found that the “intrinsic safety (IS) is a protection technique for safe operation of electronic equipment in explosive atmospheres. The concept was developed for safe operation of process control instrumentation in hazardous areas, particularly North Sea gas platforms”. The phone wasn’t designed from scratch, if I may say so, as we can recognize a previous Motorola device, the i365, which was sold by Sprint starting the fall of the last year.

The i365IS is “a device that is incapable of releasing sufficient electrical or thermal energy to ignite fuel and cause a fire or explosion. Intrinsically safe devices are safe to use in hazardous areas that may contain flammable gasses, vapors or dust”.

If you can’t understand the reason why I’m asking such a thing, then you should also know that Sprint, the American carrier that you are familiar with, has just announced the availability of a new Motorola cell phone, the i365IS, a push-to-talk handset for the Nextel Direct Connect network.

As far as the features are concerned, they include: an ultra-rugged design, as it combined the military specs that make the phone resistant to dust, shocks of all sorts, humidity, rain or vibration, a 64k colors display with a resolution of 130x130 pixels, Bluetooth connectivity, GPS navigation, a speakerphone and Second Line Service. This safe device comes with support for Nextel Direct Connect services, such as Direct Connect, Group Connect, International Direct ConnectSM, Direct TalkSM, Direct SendSM and NextMail. Measuring 5.3 x 2.1 x 1.2 inches and weighing 7.05 ounces, the phone provides up to 300 minutes of talk time.

Unfortunately, there are no details yet about pricing or availability, but there’s no doubt about the fact that Sprint will release very soon.

Samsung C6625, a QWERTY keyboard phone

C6625 is just another Samsung cell phone that people can find in the shop windows these days. I know, I risk boring you to death with the numerous Samsung devices that I’ve wrote about in the past couple of days. But that’s the way things goes. It’s not my fault, after all, that Samsung proved itself to be a very prolific company in the beginning of this year.

Maybe some of you remember the Samsung C6620 that was sold on an exclusive basis by TIM, an Italian provider. And if you do, then you should know that the C6625 is very similar to the cell phone I’ve just mentioned, the differences being almost imperceptible.

The C6625 works with the Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard operating system, looking very much like another Samsung device, the BlackJack, just that this one is a little bit rounded. In addition, there’s a QWERTY keyboard that is very attractive to a certain segment of the public, the business cell phone users.

As far as the features are concerned, they include: a 2.6 inch non-touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, a 2 megapixel camera with video recording, tri-band connectivity (900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz connectivity), HSDPA 2100 MHzconnectivity, integrated assisted GPS, stereo FM radio with RDS, stereo Bluetooth, an internal memory of 100MB and a microSDHC card slot for expandable memory.

Measuring 113.6 x 63 x 11.6 millimeters and weighing 107.7 grams, the QWERTY keyboard phone provides up to 420 minutes of talk time and up to 300 hours of stand-by time.

We don’t have the information about the availability of the cell phone across Europe, but what we know for sure is that the C6625 was seen at Expansys, where people can pre-order it for approximately $360.

Valentine’s Day creative ideas

I think that all of those articles I’ve written about pink cell phones will be a great helping hand for me, as I feel like I’m becoming immune to anything that has to do with the Valentine’s Day. That’s why I really don’t care that I find myself again in the position to write about a pink mobile phone.

Yesterday, for example, I told you about the Samsung F480 Rockstar Edition (featuring a singer you all know very well, Pink), which is to be launched on the German market sometime during this month. F480 is undoubtedly one of the most successful touchscreen phones released by Samsung that the company is interested to reinvent with every occasion that allows them to do that.

So, here it is the Samsung F480 La Fleur, which can easily turn into a perfect gift for your girlfriend for February 14th, just in case you don’t know what to buy in order to make her the happiest girl alive. Just hope she’s asking herself the same question and that she won’t take into consideration a gadget like this for you.

Ah, now I see! You have the eyebrow raised because you don’t know what “la fleur” means. The flower, you guys. French.

As you can easily see in the picture above, the special edition comes with a distinguished floral pattern that covers the case, being available in three different color versions: purple, pink and brown. And they all look quite nice for your girl.

As far as the availability is concerned, the Samsung F480 La Fleur is expected to start selling in Russia maybe in other countries from the European continent. The bad thing is the fact that there is no information about the price yet.

Another P!nk Samsung cell phone – Samsung F480 Rockstar edition

Breathe in, Maria, breathe out. It’s not the same this time. You won’t have to talk about Valentine’s day, about sweets, about declarations of love or heart-shaped objects, all colored in red or pink, you can trust me on this one! You’ll probably raise your eyebrow, telling me that it’s a Pink cell phone, but you’ll see that you have no reason to worry about.

So… after breathing in, breathing out, and saying to myself over and over again that “I’m not in the mood for cheap displays of emotions, but I’m as mature as a 23 year old can be, so I can endlessly write about pink gadgets”, I can tell you a few words about the Samsung F480 Rockstar Edition.

If you remember the history of this cell phone, then you must know that Samsung F480 was the one which introduced the highly-anticipated TouchWiz interface. And it seems that the South Korean company has shown great confidence concerning this device, as it doesn’t spare any effort when it comes to creating innovative ways to promote it, even if the handheld was released a year ago.

For example, the French and British people had their share of the Samsung F480, with the Hugo Boss special edition, which was released for Christmas (in 2008). Now, it’s the turn of Germans out there, in love with the pinkiest girl alive. Pink, of course.

The Rockstar Edition is equipped, to say so, with preloaded songs that are part of the “Funhous” album, a P!NK wallpaper and a memory card of 1 GB. Not to mention the fact that Samsung decided to send ten of the luckiest fans of the rockstar to the “Funhouse Tour” concert.

The new pink Samsung cell phone is expected to become available in February in Germany, retailing for 499 Euros.

LG music cell phone – the KM330

I have said it before and I will never get tired of saying it over and over again: cell phones are made for one purpose and one purpose only, meaning for communication. This is why I can’t understand why they must be stuffed with all sorts of features that you can find on other devices also and which will never be able to compete with those.

lg-music-cell-phone-e28093-the-km330-01

Nevertheless, if I were to pick one such feature that I consider more appropriate to a cell phone than others, then my example would probably be the music player, even if it shouldn’t make an exception either. The point is people can live without music and they don’t really need spectacular devices in order to listening to their favorite music.

So prepare yourself for a brand new music cell phone, LG-branded, the KM330, which isn’t at the rumor phase. We’re talking about official announcement here, so would you please? The media KM330 phone is the newest member of the KM series. In addition, the device is a low-end candybar, focused on music.

The features of the LG mobile phone include, among other: a tri-band GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 connectivity, a 2 inch display with a resolution of 340 x 320 pixels and 262K colors, a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus, FM radio, 3D stereo speakers, Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, USB 2.0 full speed, an internal memory of 90 MB and a microSD memory card support for expandable capacity storage of up to 8GB.

Measuring 108.2 x 47.2 x 13.8 millimeters and weighing approximately 84 grams, the music cell phone is provided with a 900 mAh battery.

We don’t have information about the release date, but as far as the price is concerned, the KM330 is expected to be an affordable device, selling out for no more than 170 Euros without a contract.
