Posted by: Sierra in Motorola
The new Motorola MC75 EDA is not a personal digital assistant, but more an enterprise digital assistant with rugged capabilities for the field work. Designed with more advanced capabilities than the Motorola rugged phone, Adventure V750, adding touchscreen technology for a easy to use interface accessible via a special stylus, as well as 3G WAN support for fast wireless transfers. More exactly, it features 3.5G HSDPA and 3G EVDO Rev A, enabling up to 3 Mbps speeds.

“Building off the success of the MC70 EDA, Motorola’s best-selling rugged mobile computer for field mobility solutions, the new MC75 EDA is a testament to our continued ability to anticipate the ever-changing needs of today’s fast-growing global mobile workforce with features like GPS and 3G operability,†said Bob Chen, vice president and general manager of Mobile Computing, Motorola Enterprise Mobility business.†The MC75 provides ultimate performance in a size-optimized rugged form factor and illustrates Motorola’s commitment to deliver the latest integrated technology to drive compelling solutions that enable enterprise customers to gain a competitive edge.â€
This rugged handset was created for mobile enterprises needing fast wireless connectivity from allover the world, without high costs or high error rate.
It will be available worldwide starting the third quarter, bringing fast processing speeds via the Intel XScale PXA270 624 MHz processor, user-friendly applications using the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 operating system with different productivity software, and high-resolution photos via the built-in 2MP camera with autofocus, which can be used for capturing documents, signatures, and 1D and 2D bar codes.
“Now that the standardization and widespread availability of 3G are nearing completion, enabling mobile workers to access or transmit critical information from field environments faster than ever before, organizations are leveraging mobile and wireless solutions as a key strategic investment and source of competitive differentiation,†said VDC analyst David Krebs. “Products like Motorola’s MC75 with its embedded 3G technologies represent one of the critical solutions needed to deliver rich mobile enterprise applications and functionality to field employees in a rugged form factor.â€
Another important aspect of getting such a mobile computer is the service support, which in this case is provided by a company promising to cover all the repairs for any internal or external component.
Besides the GPS/A-GPS support, IrDA and WPAN for wireless connectivity to modems, printers and headsets, and keyboard format options such as QWERTY, QWERTZ and AZERTY, the Motorola MC75 EDA has the following components: 128MB RAM, 256MB Flash memory, microphone, speaker, transflective 3.5-inch VGA with LED backlight touchscreen of 640 x 480 pixels, Voice-over-IP ready, and Bluetooth v2.0.
Measuring 6 x 3.3 x 1.7 inches at approximately 430 grams including the Lithium Ion 3.7V, 3600 mAh Smart Battery.
