Printing From Smart Phone
Posted by: CameraPhonesPlaza in Smartphone
The printing ability is not built into Windows Mobile versions, but there are more ways to print the files you want: documents, photos, e-mails, and other type of files stored on your smartphone, which you need in a printed form.
I found a software application, ActivePrint, which offers a solution for mobile printing on mobile devices. There are out there on the Internet many applications which offer you easily printing features, but ActivePrint is a 3 in 1 mobile printing application.
You can print your files via Wireless Network, and this means that you will use your smartphone's wireless network connection to print on your desktop computer. This is available in the Basic, Standard and Professional versions of the ActivePrint application. You can do this via the Sync Cable you got when you bought your Mobile Device. ActivePrint is the only solution which allows you to print through a Mobile Device Center, and this feature is supported in the Professional and Standard Editions.
Another method for printing files on your smartphone is via a Memory Card. Even if your mobile device uses a SD or a CF, you can use it for printing with the help of ActivePrint. For this, you have to queue the files to your mobile phone SD's or CF's memory card and then move it to any later version of Windows (from XP to Vista), and you automatically have your files in line to be printed. This feature works only in Professional Edition.
I will shortly present here other applications for printing, but keep in mind that only ActivePrint offers you 3 possibilities for printing.

PrintPocket is a software which works with Windows Mobile 5 devices and previous versions, with touch screen, and it allows you to print your email files, Word and Excel documents on your smartphone, on a pretty large palette of printers.
PrintBoy allows you printing the files on your smartphone over infrared, Wi-Fi, modem and other cell phone connections. The files can be printed to your LAN printer, and this application works with Windows Mobile 5 smartphones or with Pocket PC 2003.
PIEprint can print HTML pages from Internet Explorer and it works on devices with touch screen and Pocket PC 2002 or Windows Mobile Operating Systems.
Cortado Basic Print, from Cortado, is a solution for mobile printing and they are recommended for printing documents, e-mails and websites from BlackBerry. This application is suitable for devices with BlackBerry Software v4.1 or higer, and you can purchase it for 30 euros from Cortado website.
I think that the smartphone printing applications presented here can help you print the files you need, and you can try all of them and find the suitable software solution for you, taking into account your smartphone capabilities and performance.
