Rumors about a green cell phone from Sony Ericsson

It’s been a long time since we last heard about the so-called Sony Ericsson GreenHeart, a device that was considered by everyone the attempt of the company to join the team of those who showed interest in solving the problems involved by the eco-friendly spirit. It was just a concept back then, or at least this is how the phone was presented, and we were told to be temperate and not to put our hopes too up.

Sony Ericsson made the announcement of a syntagm that was called “environmental warranty” in September 2008, when they promised to become more responsible and involved when it comes to recycling the phones that “are handed in at designated Sony Ericsson collection points”. In addition, they came up with the GreenHeart, the eco-friendly device I mentioned earlier.

For those who were afraid of never having the chance to see that prototype becoming reality, you should all know that Sony Ericsson has put it very clear: the technology and the innovations that were brought within the GreenHeart were not forgotten or neglected and they’ll see the light of the day in the near future, “stuffed” in other green products. Is it that a green cell phone is on its way, after all?

We are being told that “the first commercial handsets to have benefited from that process” will be announced sometime soon. More than that, it seems that there will be an interactive video webcast tomorrow (June 4th), at 13:00 UK time.
