There are all sorts of mobile phones out there, from simple ones to real smart phones. But between these two you can find many more; including the ones with the weirdest design, intuitive controls and the ones that are designed din order to meet multiple needs. Such a cell phone is Samsung Alias 2. It brings an innovative keypad with other satisfying features such as music, call performance and video as well.
You will, however, need some time to get used to the controls of the phone and because the phone lacks Wi-Fi and OPO3 e-mail, you will have some troubles connecting and using the internet when you want to. Because with every phone you get used to, you learn how to use it and start loving it, so is the case of Samsung Alias 2, turning out to be a powerful messaging device.

You can also find Samsung Alias simple, but the second edition brings, besides the keyboard, a 2 megapixels camera and RemoteSync for corporate e-mail syncing. So prepare to give it some time until you learn how to use it and discover all its good points. Once you get pass that, you will definitely like it. You can get this phone with service at around $80 and for other e-mail services you will pay extra. If you take a look at Samsung Alias 2 from the outside, you will not say it brings much; it features straight lines and clear angles, measuring a tad more than other flip phones, 4.01 inches by 2.04 inches by 0.67 inch. But because it is bigger and it weights more, you feel it more solid in your hands.
The external display has 1.3”, supports 65.000 colors and has a pixel resolution of 128x128. It shows all the basic information such as time and date, signal strength, battery status and photo caller ID. There are several customizations you can manage regarding display contrast, clock style, wallpaper, except the backlighting time. Just below the display you will see the controls for the music player, so you can manage your playlists and listening to music without having to go through the phone’s menu. On the outside you will also find the volume rocker and the voice dialing button on the left side of the phone. The proprietary charger jack and the 2.5mm headset jack are also present.

And now for the main display, measuring 2.6”, supporting 262.00 colors and having a pixel resolution of 320x240, all graphics and text look sharp and bright. You can choose from various menu themes and you can choose to alter some of the settings. The keyboard is of course, the main attraction, with no regular navigation buttons and keypad buttons; you get instead square and rectangular tiles. In fact, these are buttons, but their uses depend on the side of the phone you open the keyboard. Different arrangements are available, it sounds complicated at first, but you need to try them in real life so you can see for yourself.

The keyboard is actually called e-ink and its functionality depends on the position, such as horizontal way or vertical way, in which you slide the phone. The keys are comfortable and they do provide a nice tactile feedback.
