Shortly after the success they accomplished with Omnia or I8510 INNOV8, Samsung launches the new model M8800 Pixon in the series of touchscreen phones and 8 MP. Compared to its predecessors Samsung Pixon is not a smartphone in the genuine way of speaking, since it misses Symbian , windows Mobile operating systems.
But Cell Phone Compare affirms that Samsung M8800 Pixon is the slimmest 8 megapixels camera cell phone, measuring only 13.8 mm width. The phone is built out of high quality materials , and on the front side we find the 3.2†TFT resistive touchscreen with 262 K colors. Beneath we have three buttons, and on top of the screen the light sensor is present, speakerphone (with DNSe (Digital Natural Sound Engine), and a secondary camera to initiate video calls. On the back side a 8 MP camera is positioned that captures images with a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels, and is supported by autofocus, LED flash, Geo-tagging.It is present the feature called Face Detection which detects the faces on camera and adjust exposure according to ambient lighting for optimal photo capture, Smile Detection which automatically capture an image that its subject is smiling and Blink Detection, image stabilization and wide dynamic range. The camera has also the ability to record videos of WVGA at 30 fps and QVGA at 120 fps. and at the same time allows users to share the images over MMS or email with friends and family.
On the right side of the cell phone, there is the photo camera button, the volume control and an option button that gives fast access to the images gallery. The left side displays the slot card of microSD (TransFlash), up to 16GB (verified). The Samsung M8800 Pixon also has GPRS Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots), with upload and download speeds of 32 - 48 kbps, EDGE Class 10 (236.8 kbps), HSDPA (7.2 Mbps), Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP , and USB v2.0 microUSB connectivity, that enables you to have transfer data in a faster and safer way.
The phone allows users to display documents, run Mobile Printing, print photos direct from the phone without using a PC, (yet a synchronization to a PC is available via USB 2.0 cable). We find a Photo Browser that sorts images by face, time, color and file name and allowing users to browse the images by tilting and flipping, Mobile Widgets that gives access to websites from the phone by downloading various widgets. Samsung M8800 supports also Offline Mode and Voice Memo & Voice Mail.. The phone holds a 200 MB storage capacity meaning a volume up to 500 SMS (200 in inbox, 200 in sent box, 50 in drafts and 50 in outbox) or up to 2000 phone book entries. The phone is powered by standard battery, Li-Ion 1000 mAh, with a stand-by time up to 290 hrs (2G)/280 hrs (3G) and a talk time up to 3 hrs 40 min (2G)/4 hrs (3G).
