Skyworks Solutions has announced that 10 Samsung UMTS models will feature its front-end modules for EDGE, and power amplifiers for WCDMA and HSDPA.
Also, Samsung’s P960, the first cell phone with support for mobile TV that will be released in Europe, will feature Skyworks’ technology.

The 16.7 mm thin cell phone is supporting digital video broadcast-handheld standard as well as the new open mobile alliance mobile broadcast service enabler suite. It is known as a model sporting a 2.6-inch large QVGA TFT display, Bang & Olufsen ICEPower technology for high-quality sound, a built-in 3MP camera, music player, and FM radio with RDS.
Skyworks’ SKY77519 FEM solution is the world’s smallest in the industry for open-polar EDGE architectures, permitting OEMs to optimize power usage solution and to offer best performance which increases talk times by 10%, saving 30% of power, these leading to up to 5 hours of mobile TV on the enabled handset.
"Skyworks congratulates Samsung on achieving the milestone launch of Europe's first DVB-H handset, and is pleased to support their family of compelling mobile TV platforms," said Liam K. Griffin, Skyworks' senior vice president of sales and marketing. "Our participation in their P960 design reflects our multimode design-win momentum and UMTS market share gains at Samsung and other OEMs."
