Samsung u340 cell phone is a simple phone, with a decent call quality and very easy to use.  Unfortunately it does not have a Web browser and the speakerphones don’t match up. People are internet-oriented and they expect in a cell phone some features to make things easier, but keep in mind that this Samsung u340 is basic and it has been designed to look good and to be even better when it comes to making and receiving calls.

This phone has a VGA camera and basic messaging features; it does not provide any performing features you might expect like Bluetooth, music player or wireless browsing. So if you just want a plain phone to make calls this is the one. The good thing is that you can get it for $19 with service, or even for free if you get it online. Design is simple but dull, being a flip phone comes to rescue the situations and there are many fans of such phones.



The external display is monochrome and the camera is positioned in the front. The phone is compact measuring 3.5 inches by 1.8 inches by 0.8 inch and quite light weighting just 2.8 ounces. You won’t even feel it in your pocket. The external display on the Samsung u340 cell phone shows basic information such as battery life, signal strength, date, time and caller ID. The lens of the camera re on top of the phone and the battery charger is located on the bottom. On the left you will find the volume rocker and the headset jack. On the right there is the camera shutter and the speakerphone control, which is not as impressive.



The internal display however measures 2: and it has a resolution of 128x160 pixels supporting 65.000 colors. It is decent but you will notice the lack of some colors and shades. You can choose to change the contrast, font style and color. The navigation array is very easy to use; you have a square toggle, central OK button, two soft keys, clear button and the talk/End keys. You can se the toggle to act as shortcuts such as camera, messaging and so on. Between the buttons there is a separation making typing more comfortable. Samsung u340 cell phone has 500 contacts available in the phone book and for each you can add additional four numbers and other contact information.



To make things easier you can group them and set different tones for each. Other features include a vibrate mode, SMS and MMS, voice dialing, calculator, calendar, notepad, alarm clock and instant messaging. Having a VGA camera you can’t expect great quality photos, but rather decent and reasonable. Three resolutions are available and you can choose three quality settings. It has self-timer, 4x zoom, color tones, white balance settings and four shooting sounds. You won’t have video recording available, so photos is all you get.

To make this phone more appealing you can choose to personalize it using wallpapers, alert tones or clock formats. As it does not have a WAP browser you won’t be able to download any games. The battery life is reasonable, in talk time Samsung u340 it rated 3.5 hours and in stand-by 9.2 days.
