Skeleton Gold, a $4,400 Gresso cell phone

Back in December 2008, Gresso announced the release of a new collection of luxury cell phones, the Avantgarde Skeleton, consisting of precious devices made of very expensive materials. It seems that the line was very successful as the well-known manufacturer decided to revive the collection.

Therefore, the newest member of the Avantgarde Skeleton family is the Gold model which is, as you can figure it out for yourselves from the name, a phone that has a made-of-gold outfit. In addition, there’s an unbelievable 18K gold keypad.

If you know the older model, then you might have already noticed that the Skeleton Gold looks very much like it, the only obvious difference being the Gold silhouette. The new Gresso cell phone comes in two versions which are called Luna Gold and Sol Gold.

“The Avantgarde collection is made of African Blackwood, which age is more than 200 years. The case of Gresso Avantgarde is manually manufactured and fastened with Gold screws. The back cover of the phone is executed of stainless steel with a titanic covering and hand polished to a mirror shine. This covering offers protection against scratches and is very durable. The back panel of the device is decorated with Gresso logo executed of Gold”. This is what we’re told on the official site of the company.

When it comes to the features, both phones are equipped with: functional keys which are all “executed of 18k gold”, a TFT QVGA display that is protected of 42k sapphire glass that is hand-polished, with 65k colors and a resolution of 240x320 pixels, the keyboard has Roman numerals (a Gresso innovation), tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900, the Windows Mobile 6 Standard operating system, WAP 1.0, Bluetooth connectivity 1.2, a 2 megapixel camera with a maximum resolution of 1600x1200 pixels, audio player and video player with support for file formats such as MIDI, WMA, WAV, AVI, ASF and WMV, an internal memory of 64MB and microSD card support for external memory of no more than 2GB.

Both phones measure 119.5x48x14 millimeters, and, as far as the weight is concerned, the Luna has 128 grams, while the Sol a little bit more: 135 grams. The standard Li-ion 1100 mAh battery provides up to 4 hours of talk time and up to 150 hours of stand-by time.

The Gresso Skeleton Gold phone is already available for purchase, being part of a limited edition of only 50 units. Each unit has a retail price of $4,400 (approximately 3,450 Euros).
