Soft mobile phone to come

This soft mobile phone concept by designer Roman Kriheli is encased in a flexible plastic housing, with a soft polymer insert located between its microchiop and the casing. Basically, the user can bend it, drop it and toss it around and still have a good looking and functional mobile phone.

The flexible display (a 2,75-in. diagonal, a 433 × 266 pixels) and keys are located on the surface and while the display obviously looks like paper, the ink it has incorporated can change its position if affected by electric signals. They called the process “electrowetting” and it happens so quick that even display video is allowed. This display was developed by Robert Hayes and Johan Feenstra.
