Sony Ericsson K700i

Enjoying the huge success with the Sony Ericsson T610 and T630, the Sony Ericsson Company has released The Sony Ericsson K700i, a cell phone which has some similar features like its predecessors but with some improved aspects.

The Sony Ericsson K700i has a modern look with a case made of combination between silver, black and brushed shades. With a case made of resistant plastic this handset has only 99 x 46.5 x 19.5 mm in dimensions and 90 grams in weight. The case has rounded edges and precisely connected. This means that the phone is slim and light so it will fit perfectly into any pocket. On the sides you will find the camera shutter, volume rocker and a button designated to put you online with an Internet browser.

Under the display, the Sony Ericsson K700i has two soft keys, a cancel and back key and a navigation joystick. The keys are large, transparent and easy to press so you can easily write some SMS or emails. These keys, made of resistant plastic, feel very solid. The navigation joystick can be a huge problem for you because these kinds of buttons will easily get damaged. After an intense usage, this button will start presenting some malfunctions and to solve this problem you need to change it with another navigation joystick. On the bottom part, you will find the charger connector and data port.

The Sony Ericsson K700i has a 1.78 inch TFT display with a native resolution of 176 x 220 pixels. Even if this display supports only 65K colors, you will receive clear images with a great balance between contrast and brightness. Having a glossy surface, this display is not really useful in a light room or under direct sunlight, but if you turn it in the right angle the image will be sufficiently visible for you to read some texts.

On the rear side of this phone, you will find the cheapest camera which Sony Ericsson has used so far. The VGA camera with only 640 x 480 pixels resolution is capable of taking photos at a maximum resolution of 1280 x 960 pixels. Even if this camera has some features like LED flash and self-portrait mirror, the images are not very clear. This is a negative aspect for a top-class mobile phone like the Sony Ericsson K700i. The video-recording feature of this camera is more than disappointing. It can take clips with a maximum resolution of 176 x 144 pixels.

Being a top-class mobile, The Sony Ericsson K700i is a Tri-Band (GSM 900 / 1800/ 1900) device with some common features like GPRS, USB, Bluetooth and Infrared. Even if this phone has few connectivity options, you will be satisfied by it because it supports many mobile networks. The internal memory is incapable of meeting even the most common of needs, as there is only 41 MB of free space. Supporting audio formats like MP3 or WMA, you will need more than 41 MB of free space for your favorite music and pictures. This cell phone lacks a card slot so you are stuck with the internal memory.

The external speaker produces loud and clear sound with enough balance between bass and treble. The integrated FM radio works only with the headphones which are used like as an antenna. The FM radio is pretty basic so you can’t save your favorite radio stations only with a frequency number. It can’t be minimized so you can’t use the cell phone for anything else when you are listening to the radio. The Li-Po battery will keep this cell phone on for about 7 hours of conversations and up to 360 hours in standby mode.Even if this phone doesn’t have many features like other models, it is one of the best cell phones of the 1990s. In our days, the Sony Ericsson K700i has a price of $110, a price which everybody is willing to pay for a good mobile.
