Every day, a new mobile phone model appears on the market. To keep up with this, the Sony Ericsson Company decided to launch a new mobile phone model every 2 months. The new Sony Ericsson S500i is designed for those people who want to have a new and modern cell phone without paying a lot of money for it.



The sliding case made of resistant plastic is a surprise from Sony Ericsson because, as we know, they prefer to use a solid case with a nice aspect.  This handset looks stylish and elegant and it’s available in 2 different colors: “Spring Yellow” and “Mysterious Green”. Even if the colors make it seem like the Sony Ericsson S500i is more of a women phone, I can assure you it goes just fine with the men. Because it costs only $325 you should not expect this phone to be very powerful with a lot of multimedia features.



The case has polished finishes and the slider is a little bit curved on the bottom of the phone. Even if the slider mechanism is a little too rigid, this is will prevent your phone from accidentally opening in your pocket. With 99 x 47 x 14 mm in dimensions and 94 grams in weight this cell phone is classified to be a slim and light handset. The rocker volume is the only external button placed on the left side. The Memory Stick Micro (M2) slot is placed on the top and the universal port which allows you to attach earphones, connect to a PC and recharge the phone is placed on the right side.

The keypad is very small so if you are a hard writer we recommend you choose another model. The 5-way navigation key, the “back”, “Delete” buttons, the dedicated buttons for My Shortcuts and Internet browser are hard to use but after 1-2 days you will get used to them.



The Sony Ericsson S500i has a TFT display with a native resolution of 240 x 320 pixels which supports 262k colors.  The images are perfectly visible, no matter what theme you choose, even in the sunlight.

The 2.0 Megapixel camera has no digital zoom and flash. Even without these you will obtain truly amazing pictures with a good contrast at a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels. Because this is a cheaper camera, you can record clips only with a maximum resolution of 176 x 144 pixels at a speed of 15 fps until memory runs out. Even if this cell phone lacks an external speaker, the in-call speaker produces a clear and loud sound.  Like the other Sony Ericsson models, the Sony Ericsson S500i has the same menu. The amazing themes which are pre-installed in this handset will make this phone a fashionable handset.



As we said, because this cell phone is very cheap, you won’t have many communication technologies available. Even if this mobile phone lacks 3G technology, you have other communication options like: Bluetooth, EDGE, Email support and USB 2.0. The Sony Ericsson S500i is a quad-band network compatible cell-phone powered by an ARM9 family processor. The 930mAh Li-Po battery keeps this phone up for 9 hours of conversation and 370 hours in standby mode. This is a great aspect for a cell phone with such a low price as this one.
