Sony Ericsson w580i

Sony Ericsson W580i has a very attractive design comes in three different colors (Style White, Urban Grey and metro Pink) and very good call quality. The keypad is different and some consider it cramped but after a while you will get used to it. But overall this Sony Ericsson has a good set of features and a performance to satisfy us all.

What is nice about all Sony Ericsson phones is that they are more focused on multimedia features such as music, camera and internet use. And this one brings music in front. The slider design gives it a nice look and you can buy it unlocked for about $269 or from your phone retail service for $79 but this means signing a contract with them. To come back to the design, even if it is a slider phone you can admire its slim and thin design and the dimensions 3.9 inches by 1.8 inches by 0.5 inch makes it a compact phone. It weights only 3.3 ounces so you will barely feel it in your pocket. The phone is solid constructed and when you slide it down it doesn’t feel loose at all. If you go through the settings you can select the one ending calls when you close the phone (slide it up).

The display has 2” and features 262,144 colors. The resolution is 240x320 pixels, wouldn’t have hurt a bigger screen. But colors are great and the images look very nice. You can adjust the brightness and in this way you can save some battery life. Below the screen are the navigation buttons, there is the circular toggle, OK button in the middle. As all Sony Ericsson phones the toggle button can be used to open shortcuts. There are some other navigation buttons such as the Back button, Clear button, a control for walkman and the Activity Menu buttons opening other shortcuts.

The buttons on the keypad are on the sliding part of the phone. They are flat on the surface and sometimes it is a bit difficult to dial or text messages. You can type in darker light as it has a bright backlight. On the left side of the phone are the charger port and the volume rocker can be found on the right. On both sides you will be able to see light strips flashing when a caller is about to come. The camera is on the rear of the phone and it has no flash or self-mirror portrait. Furthermore, Sony Ericsson W580i has 1000 contacts available in the contact book and for each entry you can add other phone numbers and contact information. Group them and set special ringtones and photos and you will always know who is ringing. It has a vibrate mode, voice recorder, SMS and MMS, alarm clock, calendar, task list, timer, notepad and speakerphone. Let’s not forget about the Bluetooth, e-mail support, USB cable, some useful applications such as fitness trainer you can turn on to keep track of you workout, a pedometer for your walking exercises and a sports trivia game.

Being Walkman phone, music is the most important feature so the music player has lots of settings and designs to choose from. It has also a 2-megapixel camera taking very clear and bright pictures.
