Sony Ericsson W715 Walkman Phone, a Vodafone exclusive phone

Sony Ericsson seems to be very busy these days, as the company has just announced two new cell phones, the C510 and the W508. In the given context, Sony Ericsson doesn’t spare any moment and decided move on, unveiling another handset, which was designed and developed to be sold exclusively by Vodafone.

The Sony Ericsson W715 isn’t what people would call a new device, as it’s based on an old cell phone, the W705. This means that you can always consider the W715 the updated version of the previous walkman phone, which was announced at the end of last year, in November.

Compared to the W705, this Vodafone exclusive phone is equipped with more advanced features, such as GPS, which makes it able to provide turn-by-turn pedestrian and driving navigation. These functions are available as long as you use the Vodafone Find&Go and helps you find restaurants, hotels or shopping center, which are now a couple of clicks away.

The features of the new Sony Ericsson walkman phone include, among others: quad band GSM / GPRS / EDGE connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz), a dual band UMTS / HSPA connectivity (900 / 2100 MHz), a 2.4 inch TFT display with a resolution of 240x320 pixels and 262K colors, a 3.2 megapixel camera with up 3.2x digital zoom, location-based services such as the Vodafone Find&Go that I’ve already mentioned, and Google Maps, a walkman player, track ID, shake control, stereo Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and DLNA certifiedFM radio with RDS, Auto rotate, Microsoft Exchange, NetFront browser, an internal memory of 120 MB and microSD card for expandable memory of up to 4 GB.

Measuring 95 x 47.5 x 14.3 millimeters and weighing 98 grams, the battery of the W715 provides up to 10 hours of talk time and up to 400 hours of stand-by time for GSM/GPRS and up to 4 hours of talk time and up to 350 hours of stand-by time on UMTS. Available in two color versions, Garnet Black and Luxury Silver, the package consists of the W715, battery, battery charger, a memory stick micro, a USB cable, stereo PHF, the Sony Ericsson PC Suite, Media Manager and the user guide.

This new Vodafone exclusive phone is expected to become available starting the first quarter of this year, in select Vodafone stores, but the price is still unknown.
