The countdown has begun for a new smartphone that should soon compete with other similar devices, such as iPhone, Nokia N96, Samsung Innov8 and any other smartphone that will ever dare to hit the market in the future. It’s called the 01 Phone and it’s preparing to launch within a month or so.



The device is actually the result of T3’s collaboration with The Alloy and their quest for the perfect mobile phone in a world that seems to be too crowded. Their campaign was to create the world’s most perfect mobile phone (please excuse the pleonasm), or at least a device so very close to perfection. Another purpose was to turn into reality a phone suitable for each and every one of us, no matter how our bank accounts look like. This initiative received the popular vote, as the T3 readers had the chance to express their opinions on what they wanted to see in the T3-designed handset. Therefore, the concept design is based on the suggestions of the general public, stuffing inside all sorts of features that people usually appreciate on a ground-breaking smartphone.





The 01 Phone is equipped with a 5.0 megapixel camera, a mini phone placed at the back. This mini phone can be used as a standalone handset or you can even wrap it around the wrist. IN addition, there’s a customizable keyboard that hides two wireless earphones underneath it. The flexible mini phone which one can strap around the wrist can also be kept in the pocket, working like any other ordinary phone. It makes and receives calls, and when you’ve done all that, you can lock it into the back of the 01 Phone. As far as the keyboard is concerned, the phone has a sliding QWERTY accompanied by a brand new multi-touch stylus that looks like a compass. The stylus is designed to make the iPhone-style pinching a whole lot easier.



The laser virtual keyboard is gone and its place was taken by a fully-customizable contextual keyboard which changes its lighting pattern and key display depending on the program in use at the moment. Go for gaming and bright green glow plus classic gaming controls, or enter the GPS mode for purple glowing commands specific to navigational purposes. You’ll also be able to enter the audio mode (red glow) which allows you to access audio controls and a texting/SMS mode with a useful T9 keypad.
