Ulysse Nardin Chairman luxury cell phone

Maybe most of you are familiar with Ulysse Nardin in the position of a watch manufacturer, and you wouldn’t be wrong, because this is what the company has done since 1846, when it was founded, in Le Locle, Switzerland. Even if Ulysse Nardin was pre-eminently known during the history for its marine chronometers, the company is currently producing watches with very complicated mechanisms.

You will have the chance to see another face of the Swiss watch maker, as it decided to focus its attention on the introduction of its first cell phone, which is to be released under the name of Ulysse Nardin Chairman. This is a luxury cell phone that is said to be a “hybrid smart phone”.

Compared to the luxury handsets that are available in the market these days, the Chairman is quite different when it comes to the features list, which is pretty impressive. The phone is equipped with a 2.8 inch multi-touch display, the possibility to unlock the screen with a sensor based on finger print recognition, Wi-Fi, a 5 megapixel camera, e-mail and Internet application.

“A first for the mobile phone industry, the Chairman features a functioning mechanical watch rotor that is also incorporated into its aesthetic design. This crucial component was specially designed by Ulysse Nardin for the Chairman smart phone”. This way, the integrated battery is being charged using the moving rotor, or, to be more precise, its kinetic energy.

For fashion conscious people, here you have the colors you’ll be able to choose from: Rose Gold (simple), then Rose Gold with either Steel or Blue, Steel & Blue and Stealth Black. Details about pricing and availability are not known for the moment, but, what we know for sure is that “only a limited number of Chairman smart phones will be produced this year”.
